Country Information

Kenya

Kenya is situated on the equator of Africa's east coast and is officially known as the Republic of Kenya. The capital city, Nairobi is the business capital of the country with 3 to 5 million inhabitants and many regional offices of international organizations such as the UN, BASF, Bosch, Nestle, World Bank, Toyota, Visa and more. As the second-largest city in the country, Mombasa's seaport plays a significant role in Kenya's and the neighbouring countries economy. Kenya also boasts the Standard Gauge (SGR) which ferries people and goods between the Kenya Coast and the capital city with plans to expand past Kisumu towards Uganda and even Kigali.

Ethiopia

Officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ethiopia is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa with an area covering 1.14 million square kilometres. During the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie, it was the founding, country of the OAU, the Organization of African Unity, the first African member of the UN. To this day its capital city, Addis Ababa holds the third largest UN duty station and headquarters of the African Union.

Rwanda

Rwanda is officially known as the Republic of Rwanda. It is a landlocked country located just a few degrees south of the Equator, bordering Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the DRC; with an area covering over 26,000 square kilometres. the country has a turbulent history of conflict and civil war which culminated with the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. However, the country has been focusing on reconciliation and growth. It is steadily becoming a key player in the Digitization sector.

Tanzania

Tanzania is a presidential constitutional republic and shifted from a planned economy and a one-party regime to a more liberal economic and political system in the 1990s. Since 1996, its official capital city has been Dodoma. Dar es Salaam, the former capital, retains most government offices for now and is the country's largest city, principal port, and leading commercial centre. Since March 2021, Samia Suluhu Hassan has been serving as the sixth and first female president of Tanzania. She is a member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party and the third female head of government of an East African Community country.

Uganda

Officially known as the Republic of Uganda, the country is a landlocked country bordering Kenya, South Sudan, Rwanda, the DRC Congo and Tanzania; with an area covering 240,000 plus square kilometres. Expensive privatization by the government has opened up opportunities for foreign investments in telecommunications and infrastructure. Known as the "Pearl of Africa". Uganda also has a number of eco-tourist attractions including Lake Victoria and several wildlife reserves. The country has had a turbulent sociopolitical history and continues to untangle certain issues but is currently stepping out of the shadow of the past towards being a key business player in the region.
